Southern Maine Aviation offers training at all levels -- private, instrument, commercial, tailwheel, flight instructor, even single-engine ATP.
For students not living near southern Maine, we offer accelerated training programs customized to your needs. Between our fleet, our rates, and our highly experienced instructors, you won't find a better deal.
Instrument training is usually done in our two C172SP airplanes. Both are identically equipped with IFR-approved GPS and 3-axis autopilot.
If you're looking for training with Garmin 1000 ,we have a 2006 Skyhawk in our fleet along with a Skyhawk G1000 panel available in our Redbird Flight Simulator to make the transition to glass panel avionics. It's the best of both worlds to be comfortable with both styles.
For a commercial rating, we have a C182 RG with top-notch equipment and offers an easy transition from other Cessna models. A commercial rating is obviously a requirement for a career-oriented pilot, but can also be a great way to improve your skills as a pilot, and usually reduces your insurance rates if you're an aircraft owner.
If an aviation career is your goal, we can provide training from beginner right through flight instructor or ATP. If you're considering an aviation college such as Embry-Riddle, come talk to us. We offer superior training at significantly reduced cost and more flexibility to supplement or prepare you for a better academic experience.
Southern Maine Aviation also highly recommends tailwheel training to elevate your flying skills to a new level. Not to mention that it's just plain FUN! Tailwheel endorsements typically take anywhere from 5 to 15 hours. We have a 2004 Citabria for instruction which is also available for solo rental after you get your endorsement.
Ask about other training opportunities, such as companion training, ground schools, or specialized courses.
We have access to local designated pilot examiners, please call for contact information.
